Notification of acceptance: Early February 2008

Deadline for sending dates of arrival/departure for hotel booking: 1st March 2008.
CLIMECO Workshop: 21-24 April 2008

Who is elligible?
This workshop is clearly interdisciplinary as it intends to bring together physical climate scientists and marine biogeochemistry and ecosystems scientists. It will help the biogeochemistry and ecosystems young scientists to have a better knowledge on the existing climate data, to evaluate their relevance for biogeochemical and ecosystem studies and to judge of their quality (uncertainties).
We welcome applications from scientists early in their careers (PhD, postdocs and scientists less than 4 years after receiving their PhD), either working toward or having recently completed a doctorate on a topic related to CLIVAR, IMBER or GLOBEC or showing strong interest in those topics. As this workshop is an international event, we encourage applications from developing countries.

Registration Fee
There are NO Registration Fees.
Coffee breaks, 4 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 cocktail and accommodation will be covered by the organisation. The transportation on site is also supported by the workshop organisation. Participants will have to cover their travel fees and dinners. Partial funds will be allocated to help covering travels fees.

Financial Support
There are limited funds to support attendance at the workshop. Bursaries will be offered to as many students as possible, selected according to the quality of the applications and to the restrictions imposed by the funding agencies. If you have your own funding to attend the Worskhop (e.g. through your studentship) please indicate this on your application form (in the part "Request for Financial Support"). If you do not have any funds to support your own attendance, please complete the part "Request for Financial Support" including your budget and the amount requested. This will not affect the success of your application.

Additional fund sources:

!!! EUROCEANS Member funds for CLIMECO attendance
As part of the EUROCEANS contract, member institutes receive set amount of money calculated from the number of Principle Investigators (PIs) in that institute. The money is transfered each year to that institute, and is designated to be spent on attendance of EUROCEANS sponsored/endorsed events (such as the CLIMECO training workshop). Thesis students and young post-docs in EUROCEANS member institutions are fully entitled to use that money and need to contact their institution administrators to find out how much is available, and/or remaining, for that institution.
Some information before tapping into that travel money:
-1- is my institute a member? - ANSWER on http://www.eur-oceans.eu/contact_members/index.php;
-2- how many PIs does my member institute have in EUROCEANS? - ANSWER on http://www.eur-oceans.eu/contact_members/index.php;
-3- how much money is potentially available to me? - ANSWER: each member receives total = 483euros+547*(Number of PIs), each year;
-4- how much of that is already spent, and how much can I use? ANSWER: your administrators can let you know. If problems, contact ivo.grigorov@eur-oceans.eu

!!! $500 MoST Award for CLIMECO attendance
EUR-OCEANS’ Model Shopping Tool for ecosystem model equation comparison provides a complimentary award of $500 for workshop attendance based on candidate motivation and contribution to the MoST database. Application for the complimentary travel grant is available HERE.
