Call for Applications: TWAS PhD, Postdoctoral, and Visiting Scholar Fellowships


The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is accepting applications for the 2014 session of fellowships from April 2014 to September 2014 for placements to commence in 2015.

TWAS has over 500 fellowship opportunities available to scientists from developing countries in natural sciences that currently hold a minimum qualification of an MSc degree.

On offer are 313 full time and/or sandwich PhD opportunities offered by 12 programme partners in Brazil, China, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico and Pakistan. There are also 141 Postdoctoral opportunities available in Brazil, India, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan and Thailand. Along with PhD and Postdoctoral fellowships the call is also open for 48 Visiting Scholar opportunities for senior scientists available in Kenya, Malaysia and Pakistan.

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) – for the advancement of science in developing countries, is an international science academy, founded in 1983 in Trieste, Italy, under the leadership of the late Nobel laureate Abdus Salam of Pakistan. In 1991, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) assumed responsibility for administering TWAS funds and personnel on the basis of an agreement signed by TWAS and UNESCO.
