PhD Fellowships in Science for Women from Developing Countries

Deadline for applications: 15 August 2014

OWSD - The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World - has a scholarship programme for women scientists from developing countries to undertake PhD research at recognised centres of excellence in another developing country. To date they have had 137 graduates (women who have obtained their PhD through this programme) and currently have 99 women on site. Each year we award 50 PhD scholarships which cover all necessary expenses including travel, accommodation and tuition for the period of research undertaken at a host institute. Sometimes students choose to spend the entire PhD (3-4 years) at a host institute; sometimes they choose the sandwich option, which allows them to remain at their home, while benefiting from long visits to a host institute with appropriate resources and expertise. Currently mathematics, engineering and physics are the least represented of all the scientific disciplines.
