A new Executive Officer for IMBER
The mandate of Sylvie Roy is reaching its end. She will be remplaced by the new Executive Officer, Lisa Maddison on April 17, 2009. IMBER would like to deeply thank Sylvie for all her dedication and commitment! We wish her the very best for the future. We also would like to congratulate Lisa on her new appointment. We are very happy to have her joining us!
The next IMBER Scientific Steering Committee Meeting will be held in Paris on June 2-5, 2009.

Ocean Modelling is pleased to announce a special issue dedicated to the life and contributions of Peter Killworth. Until early 2008, Ocean Modelling was largely shaped, led and edited by Peter, its Founding Editor, who passed away on 28 January 2008. Papers are invited, including reviews, which focus on areas of research that are related to Peter’s interests and contributions to oceanography.

POGO and SCOR announce a special AMT Visiting Fellowship for on-board training on an Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) Cruise. This fellowship offers the successful candidate the opportunity to participate in the preparation of the cruise at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory for 1 month prior to the cruise, participation in the cruise itself (13 October-27 November) and in the participation of the data processing and analysis back at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory until 21 December 2009. The Fellowship provides airfare and subsistence.

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) and its partner, the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), announce the POGO-SCOR Fellowship Programme for 2009. This Programme is designed to promote training and capacity building leading towards a global observation system for the oceans. The Visiting Fellowship offers successful candidates the opportunity to visit other oceanographic centres for a period of between 1 to 3 months. The Fellowship provides international airfare and a stipend for living expenses for up to 3 months. Visits must be completed by the end of April 2010.
