Getting to/from central Bergen and the airport

Flesland airport is situated 20 kilometres south-west of Bergen city. The trip to the city centre takes approximately 30 minutes (allow a bit more time during peak times). Airport bus – Flybussen/TIDE is the most efficient and cheapest way into the city. Located right opposite when you exit the airport building. Cost is 90 NOK one way or 160 NOK return. You can buy tickets on the bus using cash or credit cards.

Visa requirements for Norway

Information about visas for Norway is available at the Norwegian Directorate for Immigration.  Generally, all foreign nationals need a Schengen visa to enter Norway for a stay of less than 90 days. There are, however, some exceptions. Check whether you need a visa at: Do I need a visa.

 

Invitation letterYou will need a letter of invitation as part of the Norwegian visa application process. Please contact Kongress & Kultur at media@kongress.no to request it. Please make sure to ask for this in plenty of time before the conference.

 

Documents to accompany your visa applicationDocumentation requirements vary from country to country and are subject to change. However, as a rule, in addition to a completed and signed application form and an invitation letter, you must also include:·       Passport, valid for at least three months after you plan to depart from Norway·       One passport photo·       Visa application fee (varies by country)·       Proof that you have sufficient subsistence funds for your time in Norway (NOK 500 per day)·       Proof of valid travel and medical insurance (minimum cover of EUR 30,000) 

 

ApplyingYour application must be submitted in person to the nearest Norwegian Foreign Service Mission or Consultate. To locate this, go to www.norway.info. On the map, click on the continent where you live, and then find your country’s diplomatic or consular mission website in the list that will appear.

 

How long is the visa application process?Applications processed at the Norwegian Foreign Service Mission where you submit it, normally take around two weeks before you receive a reply to your application.In some cases, applications are forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration in Norway and then the processing time will be longer.
