| Michael Roman (USA), Coleen Moloney (South Africa) and Jing Zhang (China) have all three accepted to serve as IMBER SSC Vice-Chairs and now form, with Julie Hall as the Chair, the new IMBER Executive Committee. New pages on IMBER Web site: IMBER national contacts and activities are compiled under http://www.imber.info/national_activities.html IMBER/GLOBEC Transition Task Team (TTT): It has been agreed to host the first meeting of this group from 30 July to 1 August 2008 (3 days), at the University of Reading, UK. The GLOBEC IPO is assisting John Field, Chair of the group, in the organisation of the first meeting. The IMBER IPO will lead the organisation of the second meeting.
Call for Session: The biennial ASLO Aquatic Sciences Meeting, an international gathering of more than 2000 aquatic scientists, will be held at the Acropolis in Nice, France, 25-31 January 2009. IMBER SSC member JP Gattuso is co-organiser.

A joint statement regarding Deliberate Nutrient Additions to the Ocean has been released by SCOR and GESAMP
An Arctic Regional Ocean Observing System (Arctic ROOS) has been established by a group of fourteen institutions from nine European countries working actively with ocean observation and modeling systems for the Arctic Ocean and adjacent seas. Arctic ROOS will promote, develop and maintain operational monitoring and forecasting of ocean circulation, water masses, ocean surface conditions, sea ice and biological/chemical constituents.
