GLOBEC-IMBER Transition Task Team: The GLOBEC-IMBER Transition Task Team was formed to facilitate the transition to a single ocean research projected in the IGBP structure after 2009. The Task Team met for the first time in Reading, UK in July 2008 to begin drafting a supplement to the IMBER Science Plan to define additional science to be tackled by IMBER following the conclusion of GLOBEC.

| Invitation to join NACP Interim Coastal Synthesis Activity. The objective of this activity is to stimulate the synthesis and publication of recent observational and modeling results on carbon cycle fluxes and processes along the North American continental margin. We invite you to visit the NACP website (http://www.nacarbon.org/cgi-bin/working_groups/wg.pl) and join a coastal synthesis activity. Click on the email list link for your region of interest, and you will be prompted to enter your email address and set up a password. Regional leads will initiate contact with their regional groups via these emails lists very soon.

| Full travel grants to Arctic Science planning meetings of your choice – New Research Generation (NRG) - An Initiative of the the Arctic Ocean Sciences Board (AOSB), in collaboration with the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), is pleased to announce its second call for applications from early career scientists to support their involvement in international arctic marine planning meetings. Applications for travel support to attend an international science planning meeting should be sent to AOSB secretariat NRG_application@aosb.org by 15 October 2008. Please put “NRG application” in the subject line. http://www.aosb.org/programs.html#nrg Cool Climate Jobs: New online resource for jobs in climate change, renewable energy, and other green collar industries. http://www.coolclimatejobs.com/ Announcement of opportunity for graduates to participate in hydrographic cruises run by the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton as a chemical oceanographer involved in measuring inorganic nutrients/titrating dissolved oxygen samples. Modest additional sampling can probably be entertained. Cruises are scheduled for the Arctic gateway, Canada Greenland UK (Summer 2008); Andrex Southern Ocean (Early 2009); Drake Passage, Southern Ocean (Early 2009); 25°S in the Atlantic (Easter 2009) and 24°N in the Atlantic (November 2009).
