Next IMBER Executive Committee Meeting
Following the suggestion raised at the last Scientific Steering Committee meeting that we should reduce carbon emissions where possible, the next Executive Committee meeting will take place using GoToMeeting (Online Conference System) on 7-9 October 2009.

News from the IMBER Working Groups
Carbon Working Group:
Sub-Group 1: A Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas Atlantic and Southern Oceans Regional Workshop was held in Norwich, UK, 25-26 June 2009. Read the SOCAT Meeting Report.
Sub-Group 3 !!! New: The SOLAS-IMBER Ocean Acidification Sub-Group (SIOA) has been launched. The group is chaired by Jean-Pierre Gattuso and will hold its first meeting at UNESCO in Paris from 1-3 December 2009. Further information

Data Management Committee (DMC): Alberto Piola (Argentina) has been appointed as co-chair with Raymond Pollard for the remainder of 2009 and will take over as chair from 2010 to 2012. The Data Management Policy has been officially published. Read the BENEFITS of integrated data management in all projects.

CAMEO Funding Opportunity: This announcement solicits proposals for the Comparative Analysis of Marine Ecosystem Organization (CAMEO) Program which is implemented as a partnership between the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service and National Science Foundation Division of Ocean Sciences. The purpose of CAMEO is to strengthen the scientific basis for an ecosystem approach to the stewardship of our ocean and coastal living marine resources.

The Ocean Carbon and Biogeochemistry (OCB) Project Office is currently seeking nominations for new Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) members. If you wish to nominate someone, please email the OCB Project Office (hbenway@whoi.edu) with the following information about your nominee: Name, Affiliation, Contact information, Expertise, Brief (few sentences) description of what/how nominee would contribute to OCB planning and implementation. Call for proposals to host the IGBP Open Science Conference in 2012.
IGBP is seeking sponsors and a host city for its 2012 Open Science Conference, 'Planet Under Pressure: new knowledge, new solutions'. The three-day science conference will attract around 2500 world-leading environmental-change scientists. It will be followed by a day dedicated to discussing findings with policymakers, the public, and funders of environmental science.

Financial support ARCTOS offers travel grants for up to 15 PhD students and post doctoral fellows.
